Germany beat a resilient Austria side in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals of the tournament for the tenth time in the country’s history.

The opening half was just as impressive for France, as they hammered Italy 5-1. After earning seven points out of a possible nine in the group stage, they advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating the Netherlands thanks to a penalty kick from Eve Perisset in the first period of overtime.
There were concerns about France’s team spirit going into the summer, but Corinne Diacre has managed to keep the team together. They have had to overcome obstacles, including the injury to top scorer Marie-Antoinette Katoto, but les Bleues are still in the running with only a few days left in Euro 2022.
Two of the top women’s national teams will be facing off in what should be a riveting and exciting match. Any country that makes it to the finals this month, whether it is Germany or France, has earned its spot.
