Moir brushed aside the barrier to depart the arena with a hilarious, joyous flourish after performing an original programme full of smooth, effortless lifts.

During the free dance, Papadakis and Cizeron earned 123.35 points, bringing their total score to 205.28. Ice dancing to Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata is standard fare, but they put a fresh spin on it.

The siblings had sharp edges, pointed toes, and elegant carriage, but their aggregate score of 192.59, including 114.86 in the free dance, was not enough to earn them gold in the exceptionally fierce competition.

The best ice dancers in Canada are revamping their routine in preparation for the Olympics so that it is more suitable for younger viewers.

The Toronto Star reports that during the figure skating team competition, Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue will introduce some alterations to their Moulin Rouge free dance.

They reworked the lift from the movie routine, in which they play Christian and Satine, because it was deemed too explicit for the Olympics.

According to Moir’s Interview with the Toronto Star,

“What it came down to actually was” the fact that “when we slowed it down and looked on the film, it wasn’t aesthetically that great of a posture,” prompting the team to make adjustments.

At 2:25, Tessa Virtue performs the lift by leaping onto Scott Moir’s shoulders with a toe pick and twisting to land on them as they begin to spin.

She is basically rubbing her crotch in his face.

He then twists her around and sets her back down on the ice. The entire routine is completed in under ten seconds, the maximum allowed for a lift in an ice dancing routine.

A jukebox musical starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, Moulin Rouge! has music composed by Craig Armstrong. Skaters often listen to El Tango de Roxanne throughout their routines.
