Marcial has been inundated with proposals from professional boxing promoters, some of which have a 2020 deadline. MP Promotions of Manny Pacquiao is one of the groups that piqued his interest.

Marcial promised his father that he would fight in the 2020 Summer Olympics, and these proposals promise him as much as “tens of millions of pesos” before before each bout begins.

This has prompted the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines to plead to promoters to let him compete.

Although Marcial has committed to continuing to represent the Philippines as an amateur at international competitions like the Southeast Asian Games and the Summer Olympics, he turned pro in July 2020 and signed with MP Promotions.

Marcial has signed with the PBC and will face Andrew Whitfield of Lewiston, Idaho in a four-round Middleweight bout in his Professional debut.

The fight is scheduled at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 16, 2020, as part of a PBC event. Marcial trained at the Wild Card Boxing Club with Freddie Roach for two months leading up to the bout.

Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine defeated Eumir Marcial of the Philippines in the men’s middleweight semi-finals, advancing Khyzhniak to the championship round on August 7.

Khyzhniak and Marcial’s fight was a boxing masterpiece from the opening bell, as the two fighters traded blows and showed off impressive combos throughout the tense and exciting bout.

The Ukrainian showed his dominant form in the final round, scoring enough points to destroy Marcial’s Olympic hopes.

Marcial was Defeated by Khyzhniak in a close 3:2 Decision.

Philippines flagbearer Eumir Marcial will be boxer Eumir Marcial instead of Asian pole vault champion Ernest John ‘EJ’ Obiena during Friday’s Opening Ceremony in Tokyo.

The flagbearers are required to arrive at the venue 48 hours prior to the event in accordance with COVID-19 requirements.

On Thursday, July 29, Eumir Marcial got his Olympic bid for 2020 in Tokyo off to a strong start.

A stoppage victory in the Round of 16 of the men’s middleweight division at the Kokugikan Arena marked a successful debut for the highly touted Filipino boxer. His opponent, Younes Nemouchi of Algeria.

After landing strong blows and scoring a knockdown on his Algerian opponent in the first round, Marcial quickly ended the fight and won by technical knockout.

Due to a cut above Nemouchi’s right eye, the referee stopped the bout with 19 seconds remaining in the first round.

Marcial advances to face Arman Darchinyan of Armenia on Sunday, August 1 in the quarterfinals, where a victory will guarantee him a bronze medal if not a gold.
